WHAT IS SKIN AWARENESS? HOW TO SELF-SCAN YOUR SKIN AT HOME AND WHEN YOU SHOULD SEEK HELP.

Skin Awareness is simply taking a good look at your skin and any lesions on it. What they look like, their shape, colour, size, sensation, and any changes since you first noticed them. Photos are a great way to keep a record of your skin and to notice any small changes that may be occurring.

At Skin Happy, when we carry out your in-clinic consultation and assess your skin for treatment, we also look at any lesions that may be present in the area for treatment.

We may ask you questions about specific lesions and dependent on your answers, we may suggest you get it checked for further investigation. This can either be done via your GP or your lesions can be checked via the ScreenCancer UK screening service available at Skin Happy.

WHAT DOES A SCREENCANCER UK APPOINTMENT INVOLVE?

We ask you to complete a consent form with some personal data. This is so ScreenCancer can contact you with the results of the analysis.

You will be asked a short series of questions about your skin including ones specific to the lesion(s) you want to be analysed. This will assess your risk factors of skin cancer and provide the UK based dermatology specialist(s) with the necessary background information for analysis.

We take images of your lesion(s). It is totally painless and harmless and takes a few minutes to complete. There are very few restrictions but if you have any doubts just ask.

Once the dermatology specialist has written their report, a health advisor may call you to discuss the lesion(s) or talk through the report along with any remedial action that may or may not be required.
