What is Cryotherapy?
It is an advanced Cryotherapy innovation that is a fast, effective, safe and new solution for removing skin imperfections (Blemishes / Lesions) quickly and effectively. The tissue is destroyed by freezing the inter-cellular fluid, forming ice shards and crystals which rupture the membrane, thereby destroying the cell. This means there is no collateral damage to healthy tissue. It’s so incredibly accurate and practical. Procedures typically last from 5 to 30 seconds, so you can be in and out of the clinic quickly.
How does it work?
The device emits a fine jet of Nitrous Oxide under high pressure, which allows us to work with millimetre precision. This destroys the tissue by freezing the inter-cellular fluid, forming ice shards and crystals which rupture the membrane, thereby destroying the cell. That means there will be no collateral damage to healthy tissue. It’s so incredibly accurate and practical.
The device is held as close as possible to the skin imperfection and moved quickly towards and away from it. This could be from 1-30 seconds, depending on the size and depth.
At Skin Happy we have achieved a Diploma of Excellence in Cryotherapy with theory and practical based training by Cryosthetics.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are there any side effects?
The area treated is frozen by Cryotherapy. This kills the localised cells in the area which cause them to shrivel and die. The treated area may go darker over a few weeks, but will return to normal pigmented skin in roughly 6-12 weeks.
How long are Cryotherapy treatments?
The duration of the treatment time will depend on the surface area and the thickness of the tissue being treated. Upon the clinical evaluation of the depth of the area, the clinician will choose an application time from 1 to 30 seconds.
How many lesions can be treated in one appointment?
Whether you have 1 or more than 100 lesions for treatment the length of the appointment time is booked to suit. Depending where all the lesions are located they could all be treated in one appointment but if you have for example dozens to over 100 around your neck or underarms I will assess and advise splitting the treatment up into a set number of appointments. For those with 100+ lesions for treatment (most seen with skin tags) I put together a ‘special package quote’ that is tailored specifically to your needs.
